They just sat at the bar looking into their phones, phones covered in a proprietary organic sauce that looked like unicorn tears. No one came to check on my meal or cared to ask. The service was lazy and uninspired since they collect their tip when you order. There are no napkins on the table despite the burger oozing excessive condiments. The fries were OK if they weren’t served in a ceramic kiddie cup. No free refills, even if you burned your mouth. In the meantime, I used up my “house made” soda ration and had to get some chalky tap water to extinguish the fire. To fix the issue, they made another one but evidently contributed to global warming by running a microwave to get the entire burger, bun and tomato included, just one degree below lava hot. The bun was smashed down to match the thickness of a tortilla and the burger was oozing with an abundance of sauce designed to conceal an otherwise ordinary burger. My first burger came out cold, dry and chewy. ![]() which asks, “Are you really about to spend $25 including a tip for a lousy burger and fries?” Yes, yes I am, and I have the walk of shame to my metered parking spot to prove it. In the meantime, some soda artisan is harvesting 100-percent sugar cane while your bank sends a fraud alert to your smart phone. I get it, this place is uber trendy, organic, sustainable, and a local farmer butchers the meat a mere minute before you order. To sum it all up, Roam Artisan Burgers is one of the best burger joints in SF that lives up to the hype. I love the fact that I can taste the freshness of every ingredient- from the avocado to the pomegranate to the salad dressing- everything was perfect. Rallys was born out of the idea that boring and bland have no place in the burger world. Plus, their Farmer’s Market Salad ($8.25) is the best damn salad I’ve ever had. They also offer a ton of vegetarian and gluten-free options (ie: veggie burger) that you can customize any way you want. The fry-fecta is a must for anyone who wants a sampling of all fry offerings like russet, sweet potato and zucchini onion.
